While it’s no secret that Kamala Harris ranks as the worst Veep of the modern era, gossip from within the drama-filled White House indicates that Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is looking to supplant Joe Biden’s number two.
During the run-up to the 2020 elections, both Harris and “Mayor Pete” earned high enough polling marks to participate in the Democratic Party’s primary debates. Harris called out front-runner Biden for his track record of siding with segregationists, Ku Klux Klan members, and bigotry. She lost significant support and promptly found herself sidelined. Mayor Pete, by contrast, stayed in the race by demonstrating sound political instincts and an ability to deflect the controversies coming out of South Bend.
Political insiders believe that Buttigieg had his sights set on the vice presidency after faltering in the primary. And when Harris was tapped, speculation revolved around him pushing to become the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. Winding up as another nondescript transportation chief didn’t initially sit well with the upstart.
“He wants to build out his foreign policy credentials and land a spot that keeps him in the news but out of domestic political fights,” a person close to Buttigieg reportedly said in 2020. “The U.N. does that and gives him the option to build out his political possibilities.”
Recent reports indicate that Harris may have scuttled his U.N. trajectory because he posed a political threat.
“But there was no way Harris was going to let Biden park Buttigieg in the Ritz-Carlton in New York City, where he could spend four years burnishing his diplomatic credentials and wining and dining the financial-services crowd that funds presidential campaigns. The U.N. job went to a career foreign service officer instead,” the National Review reported.
Although Harris may have stabbed Mayor Pete in the back before he officially arrived as a Washington insider, the upstart has made the most of his position at the Department of Transportation. Aside from roiling voters about a proposed gas tax, Buttigieg has effectively reached across seemingly conflicting demographics. Bringing people together has not been one of Harris’ strengths. Her lack of political instincts and unprecedented ability to alienate her own staff have created an opportunity for Mayor Pete to make in-roads with Biden’s handlers.
Despite Biden’s cognitive decline, gaffes, and increased difficulty staying on script, nothing indicates he will retire after the current term. And without Biden as the face of the party, Democrats have no fallback candidate. Former golden boy Andrew Cuomo has resigned, and has fallen out favor with the elite that would have happily backed him before they were forced to keep their distance.
Despite Harris setting a record for being the most unpopular Veep of the modern era, the Democratic Party will have to choose one of them to drag Biden across the finish line in 2024. If Creepy Joe doesn’t run, Harris and Buttigieg will turn this passive-aggressive rivalry into a public knife fight with the least bloodied running for president.
Unfortunately, both of them are bad – but Hyena Harris is obviously the worst choice !
They both are a pile of PUKE !
I don’t know about that. Harris at least hasn’t tried to use false Christian theology to justify her position like Mayor Putz. He is so dumb he tried to use Adam (who was never in the womb according the Genesis) to justify abortion.
Isn’t it interesting how some people quote and try to use the Bible when they obviously have never read any of it. Or if they have it is not the same book we tend to read. I would not vote democrat . As a Christian that is also out of the question. They are an evil ideology.
Don’t care for either one of them since neither of them actually care about the average man — just themselves and whatever money they can suck out of America’s Democrat ill-informed voters resulting in additional damage to whatever they touch.
